Our gold activated carbon is made of high quality coconut shell, which has thicker carbon wall and complete and uniform particles, which makes the activated carbon product has higher abrasion resistance and washing resistance. In the cyanide solution, gold adsorbs on the inner surface of the activated carbon as ionic couples or neutral molecules, or the bonded ions combine with metal ions to precipitate in the voids of the activated carbon, where the metal ions come from the solution or from the activated carbon ash (which may have calcium, potassium, sodium, etc.).
  2. Au(CN)₂-chemically decomposes to form insoluble AuCN, which remains in the carbon voids.
  3. Some of the AuCN is reduced to certain compounds containing gold atoms with oxidation states of valence 0 and 1.
  4. Au(CN)₂- or AuCN is reduced to Au metal.
